A Roadmap for Transforming
Hawai`i Island's Agricultural Economy
Many of HIAP’s members strive to improve the island’s agricultural cluster, seeking to enable it to reach its true potential in today’s market realities. While their efforts have resulted in a number of system improvements, the island has yet to develop the kind of system transformation needed to grow its agricultural industries and capacities in ways which significantly increase local employment and improve food resiliency.
To accomplish that kind of transformation, efforts need to be aligned and connected across the system in ways which can be easily understood and leveraged by everyone involved. In the sections that follow, we will explain the collective strategy that has been developed by HIAP members and the BBBRC coalition to turn this shared dream of a better system into a reality.
