Come learn about the cultivation of ‘Ulu (breadfruit) with educators Dana Shapiro, co-founder and General Manager of the Hawai’i ‘Ulu Cooperative. The workshop will share practical knowledge about this incredible staple Hawaiian canoe crop, including how to space trees, prepare the planting area, plant, water, maintain, control pests, harvest, and sell any excess harvest beyond your family’s needs locally through Kohala Food Hub.
Saturday, August 6th, 10:00AM-12:00PM
Location: Kohala Village HUB, 55-514 Hawi Rd, Hawi
A planting demonstration will round out the workshop, with a delicious Farm Fresh Lunch (featuring 'ulu) by donation will be prepared by Chef Erika Kuhr.
A heavily discounted ‘ulu tree sale will also take place so you can put your newly learned skills to use!
Can't make it in person? No worries! You can attend Virtually - for FREE!
